Benadryl

Benadryl is a brand name for the antihistamine medication diphenhydramine. It is commonly used to relieve symptoms of allergies, hay fever, and the common cold, such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the throat or nose. Benadryl works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergy symptoms.

In addition to its use for allergies, Benadryl can also have sedative effects, which may help with mild sleep problems or insomnia. Some people use it for its sedative properties to reduce anxiety or promote relaxation, but it should be used with caution for these purposes and under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
