Allogrooming

Allogrooming is a social behavior observed in many animal species, including domestic cats. It refers to the grooming or cleaning of one individual by another individual of the same species. In the context of cats, allogrooming typically involves one cat licking, biting, or nibbling the fur of another cat. Allogrooming is more commonly observed among cats that share a close social relationship, such as litter mates, mother and kittens, or cats that have grown up together. While it’s generally a sign of positive social interaction, it’s essential to monitor cats’ behavior to ensure that grooming does not become aggressive or excessive, which could indicate underlying issues.
